rock drilling pdc cutter (PDC) is a superhard composite material composed of a polycrystalline diamond layer (PCD) and a cemented carbide substrate. Due to its extremely high abrasion resistance of diamond polycrystalline layer and impact toughness of cemented carbide, diamond layer can always maintain a sharp cutting edge, it is widely used in geology drilling and obtained a very good use effection in soft to medium hard rock formations.
Performance Characteristics
Good wear resistance, heat resistance, good impact toughness
Polycrystalline diamond compacts have high strength carbide supports, which are not susceptible to cracking under the action of cutting forces. At the same time, the carbide material itself has a uniform strength and good thermal conductivity.
The hardness of the polycrystalline layer of pdc is close to that of natural diamond.
History of PDC
Because rock drilling pdc cutter high hardness, wear resistance and good toughness are unmatched by other materials, so all countries are studying it. China also developed this product in the late 1970s. After several decades of introduction and digestion, the output of PDC has now ranked first in the world. The largest synthetic cavity has reached a diameter of 60 mm.
